DENVER – Denver Urban Gardens (DUG) and ArtFarm are hosting “HARVEST,” an outdoor communityart show and garden gala. The event will be held at DUG’s West Washington Park Community Garden at 201 Grant Street in Denver, on September,10th, 2011, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m..

The Harvest gala will feature garden tours, the works of local artists, live acoustic music by Erick Rudolph, libations provided by Bristol Brewing Company, and a tastings of fresh garden produce, along with additional hors d’oeuvres provided byWhole Foods. Eco-Products will provide all party wares and Trash Bags making this an all green event.

“QUICK RESPONSE ART SHOW”

A digital show for the digital age.

DUNN A.K.A. Dan Ericson has created the “QUICK RESPONSE” art show to help celebrate The MacSpa Second Anniversary and his love for Pop art.

“QUICK RESPONSE” art show July 1st - 30th, featuring 30 Denver artists is created as a group effort by Dunn, The MacSpa, Ray Snyder Fine Art and curated by Eric Matelski.

Public Reception will be held Thursday, July 7th 6-9pm at The MacSpa 1738 Wynkoop, Suite 103, Denver, CO 80202.

QR Codes: A QR code (short for Quick Response) is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and camera phones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be text, URL or other data.

“Quick Response (QR) Codes are the perfect platform for an art exhibition that makes all forms of artwork equal and able to be displayed side by side without distracting the audience” - DUNN

30 of Denver’s diverse artists will have their work on display together in a way they have never been shown before. All 30 works will be displayed as 12” x 12” simple black and white QR codes. Using only iOS devices, iPhones, and other smart phones, viewers will be able to scan the QR code to reveal the actual image of art.

All art will be for sale including the 12” x 12” QR codes. Each QR code will be autographed by the artist it represents.

Adding to the Digital Fun, DJ Check One will be DJing live via Skype from 7-8pm followed by other Digital performances during the reception on July 7th.

Food: A few of LoDo’s favorite food carts will be onsite selling treats, and for dessert Gigi’s cupcake truck will also be onsite to tempt your sweet tooth.

POOR RECEPTION television art show is a group art show featuring artwork about television. Some of the art is created using old televisions.On February 17, 2009 Television Will Evolve and Poor reception television art show will be there. The era of analog broadcast television in the United States will end as the nation's full power* television stations complete their transition to an all-digital system. This change will mark the end of the traditional analog method of broadcasting over-the-air television.

For years I have created a small series of artwork about my love/hate for television. I have decided to create a couple new pieces and I’m bringing along some other Denver art friends to show as well: Buckner, Sandi Calistro, Danyl Cook,Dunn (the Street Sign Artist), Joroko, Daniel Lowenstein, Laurie Maves, Russ Wright, and more. I figure February 17th would be the best time to present this body of work.

POOR RECEPTION

Opens February 17th 6-9 p.m. at KAZE GALLERY 3245 Osage St. Denver CO. To acopany the art we will be playing a selection of television theme songs and serving T.V. Dinners. (T.V. dinners are limited)

FU takes no commission from sold work.
Please have the pieces ready to hang.
There is limited space, so the smaller your pieces are, the better chance they have of getting on the wall....and the easier it will be for us to store.

It is a juried show, but only because we wont be able to hang every piece brought in. If we cannot fit any of your pieces you will be given $10 dollars credit for the following month.

We have live music and a large crowed on first Friday. It is fun.
This is meant to act as a catalyst for artists to meet and collaborate.
The money simply pays for the wall space....just like every other artist in the gallery.

Woah- ITs been a while. I was a little side tracked with other projects....motorcycle rebuilds, gallery openings, weddings, transmission installations, birthdays, camping trips and a million other excuses.

As an artist, Eric Matelski is always looking for new ways to promote his work. After attending classes through Denver Urban Gardens, he came up with the idea to merge two of his passions into a series of garden shows called Art Farm. “It’s pretty cool, because it’s just a one-day-only show,” Matelski says of each presentation. “The best part is the relaxation element. Everybody seems to chill out, relax and enjoy the artwork a little bit more. What we do is try to make sure it’s not garden art. We’re trying to take a non-typical gallery space and create a gallery for a day.”

Full Bloom, on display from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the Beeler Street Garden, 1675 Beeler Street in Aurora, is free and will include snacks from Whole Foods and music from Chris Lawhead. More than a dozen artists will show their work. Donations to the non-profit Denver Urban Gardens — which assists in the creation and management of more than sixty metro-area community gardens and small parks, many in low-income neighborhoods — will be accepted. Local Musicians Stage Concert Fundraiser for Myanmar Aid

Myanmar was hit by cyclone Nargis on May 2, 2008. The cyclone devastated Irrawady, Yagon and Bago and affected Mon and Kayin divisions/states. It is estimated that more than a million are affected and thousands are displaced. In any disaster, it is children who suffer most. Reportedly, a number of children have died; many are separated from their families, injured and traumatized. Vulnerable to hunger, disease and trauma, children and women in the affected areas require urgent life-saving assistance to survive. UNICEF is requesting an initial amount of US$ 8,200,000 to meet the urgent needs of children and women throughout the affected areas.

An array of Denver's best musicians have agreed to donate their talents and perform at Dazzle Restaurant and Lounge on two stages for a night of entertainment. The groups feature a variety of performers and styles, from straight ahead jazz, to hip-hip, to one of Denver's best DJs. Along with live entertainment the event will feature, live art, a silent auction, photography, and drink specials with all of the proceeds going towards meeting our fundraising goals. The event will kick-off at 6:00 p.m. and continue to close. The performers are:

10:45-11:45 Ryan.Mad.Son Trio

The goal for the event is to raise $5000 for UNICEF and to seek matching donations throughout the community. This will be achieved through a $10 suggested donation at the door as well as a silent auction, and proceeds from food and drink specials; all in efforts to reach our goal.

Despite the difficulties the international community has encountered in getting aid into Myanmar, UNICEF has conducted operations in the country since 1950 and has a domestic staff working to distribute services to those in need. According to a field report published by UNICEF they are providing water purification tablets, oral rehydration therapies, essential drugs for infectious disease, mosquito nets, special foods and liquids for malnourished children, and family survival kits. It is amazing to learn how far the money goes when donated to UNICEF. Following is what donations can purchase:

$3 will purchase a wool blanket for a child

$22 will purchase a First-Aid kit

$101 will purchase Basic Family Water kits for ten families

$244 will purchase an Emergency Health Kit including basic drugs, medical supplies and equipment for 1,000 people for the duration of 3 months.

Malaria is already the biggest child-killer in Myanmar. In post-natural disaster conditions children are highly susceptible to measles, malaria, and diarrheal disasters. The efforts of UNICEF are extremely effective in preventing these senseless deaths.

We are currently seeking sponsorship for- the cost of poster and flyer printing, prizes for games, product donation to develop food and drink specials, auction items and media sponsors.

The musicians are very excited about this event, and passionate about the cause. Any help we can get to help us reach our goal would be greatly appreciated.

I have decided to join a new Co-op gallery. I am excited for this opportunity to show my artwork and of course have a home base with regular business hours and a rockin' First Friday every time!

We will be trying desperately to get it open on the 15th, however due to final construction it will not be open for the First Friday in June. A Gallery has to have nice lighting put in.

This will be a great jump off point for me, and for the collector it looks like a half off sale. Say no to the commission-based exploitation of artists. We are starving already, right?

I am currently showing at Dazzle. There are a few new pieces that I had been working on. I will be having an opening reception On May 14th, from 7-9. Dazzle is a great little jazz club with quite reputation of good food and great jazz. Hope to see you there.

Justin Bua will be having an opening on April 26 at Limited Addiction, located 825 Sante Fe. I had my own opening last April and ducked out to go to Bua's. He is hands down, my favorite contemporary painter, and a nice fellow at that. I hope to see you there from 7-10.

I will be having some artwork up here on the 12th. The show runs from 4/4-4/28. The opening, and actual event which includes hip hop, burlesque, trapeze artists and of course a whole bunch of artists. The Absolute event will be on April 12th. It should be a good time.
